United Way of Leavenworth County celebrated community, literacy, and family fun at this year's Lansing Fall Fest, connecting with hundreds of children and families throughout the day.

With beautiful fall weather and a great turnout, the event provided an opportunity for United Way to engage with local families, share resources, and offer activities for children of all ages. Throughout the day, United Way distributed more than 300 free books to children, helping encourage a love of reading and making books more accessible to families. Families also had the opportunity to learn about and enroll in Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, a program that provides free, age appropriate books mailed monthly to children from birth to age five. One of the day's most popular activities was the water bottle decorating station, where more than 100 children personalized their own water bottles. Families also enjoyed friendly games of Connect Four, while United Way distributed school supplies to help students replenish their supplies after the first few months of the school year.

While the activities brought plenty of smiles, the event also reflected United Way's broader mission of strengthening communities through education, family support, and meaningful connections. "Events like Lansing Fall Fest give us an opportunity to connect directly with families, share resources, and remind our neighbors that United Way is here to support our entire county," said Myranda Agnew, Executive Director of United Way of Leavenworth County. "Sometimes making a difference starts with something as simple as putting a book in a child's hands or creating a fun experience for a family."

United Way of Leavenworth County extends its appreciation to the organizers of Lansing Fall Fest and to everyone who stopped by throughout the day.

Together, we're building a stronger Leavenworth County. United Is the Way!
