Each year, United Way partners with local organizations that are changing lives across Leavenworth County. From providing food and housing assistance to supporting mental health, education, veterans, seniors, children, and individuals with disabilities, our Community Impact partners are creating a stronger community every day.
Every dollar awarded through our Community Impact Grants comes from generous individuals, businesses, and organizations who choose to invest in their local community. Because of their support, these dollars stay here, helping neighbors right here in Leavenworth County.
In FY2027, United Way invested $70,000 in 19 local nonprofit organizations serving Leavenworth County.
Investing Where It Matters Most
United Way believes lasting change happens when communities work together. Rather than operating alone, we invest in a network of trusted nonprofit partners that provide vital services every day.
Our Community Impact Grants support programs that align with our four community impact areas:
Healthy Community
Supporting physical and mental health, access to healthcare, food security, transportation, and healthy lifestyles.
Youth Opportunity
Helping children and youth succeed through education, early childhood development, mentoring, literacy, and out of school opportunities.
Financial Security
Helping individuals and families build stable futures through housing, employment, financial education, workforce development, and other economic supports.
Community Resiliency
Strengthening our community through emergency preparedness, disaster response, volunteerism, collaboration, and programs that help communities recover and thrive.
Our Grant Process
Our Community Impact Grant process is designed to ensure community investments are thoughtful, transparent, and focused on measurable impact.
Applications are reviewed by trained community volunteers who carefully evaluate each proposal based on community need, organizational capacity, program effectiveness, measurable outcomes, and alignment with United Way's priorities.
Funding recommendations are then presented to the United Way of Leavenworth County Board of Directors for final approval.
Our goal is simple: invest donor dollars where they can make the greatest difference for our community.
Who May Apply?
Community Impact Grants are available to eligible nonprofit organizations serving residents of Leavenworth County.
Eligible applicants generally include:
- 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations in good standing
- Government entities providing qualifying community programs
- Educational institutions
Programs must align with one or more of United Way's Community Impact priorities and demonstrate measurable outcomes that improve the lives of local residents.
Grant Expectations
Organizations receiving Community Impact Grant funding agree to:
- Use funds only for approved program purposes.
- Track and report measurable outcomes.
- Submit required progress and final reports.
- Recognize United Way of Leavenworth County's investment when appropriate.
- Participate as partners in strengthening our community.
We value collaboration, accountability, and transparency, and work alongside our funded partners throughout the grant period to maximize community impact.

Is matching funding required?
No, although additional community investment and sustainability planning are viewed positively during the review process.
