Our Policy Priorities
United Way of Leavenworth County is committed to improving lives through collaboration, education, and advocacy. We are proudly nonpartisan, working with leaders from every background to advance practical solutions that strengthen our community.
Our advocacy efforts are guided by the needs we see every day through our partnerships with local nonprofits, businesses, schools, healthcare providers, government agencies, and community members. We support policies that improve outcomes in our four focus areas:
- Healthy Community by expanding access to healthcare, behavioral health services, nutritious food, and other resources that help people live healthier lives.
- Youth Opportunity by ensuring children and young adults have access to quality education, early learning, mentorship, and opportunities to succeed.
- Financial Security by promoting stable housing, workforce development, financial education, and pathways to economic mobility.
- Community Resiliency by strengthening emergency preparedness, volunteerism, community partnerships, and coordinated responses to local challenges.
We believe the strongest solutions are created when people come together.
Our Advocacy Approach
Our local policy priorities are informed by the needs of Leavenworth County while also aligning with broader efforts led by United Way Worldwide and statewide partners, including the Kansas Housing Advocacy Network (KHAN). Together, we advocate for policies that expand opportunity, remove barriers, and improve quality of life for every individual and family.
Advocacy is one of the many ways you can help create lasting change. Whether you contact an elected official, attend a community meeting, share information with others, or simply stay informed, your involvement makes a difference.
Together, we can build a stronger, healthier, and more resilient Leavenworth County.
