DAY OF ACTION

One Day. Local Impact. A Stronger Community.

United Way of Leavenworth County's Day of Action brings volunteers, businesses, community organizations, and local nonprofits together to make a tangible difference in Leavenworth County. It is an opportunity to step outside of our everyday roles, roll up our sleeves, and put the spirit of United is the Way into action.

Each Day of Action is built around real needs identified by organizations serving our community. Projects may include improving nonprofit facilities, completing outdoor or beautification projects, organizing essential supplies, supporting food access, or tackling projects that help local organizations better serve their clients. By connecting willing volunteers and community partners with meaningful projects, we can accomplish together what might be difficult for one organization to accomplish alone.

In 2026, volunteers came together at Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas' Leavenworth Family Support Center to build an accessible ramp supporting the expansion of its food pantry. The project was about more than building a ramp. It helped remove a barrier to access, supported the growth of an important community resource, and demonstrated what can happen when local organizations and volunteers work toward a shared goal.

Day of Action is also an invitation to get involved. Whether you represent a business looking for a team volunteer opportunity, an individual ready to give your time, or a nonprofit with a project that could benefit from extra hands, there is a place for you.

When we work together, one day of action can create an impact that lasts far beyond a single day.
